It sounds like your cable modem can't maintain reliable contact with the modem at Comcast's end and tries to recover it. . Your best bet would be to contact Comcast Technical support and tell them your problem. I, too, have Comcast, and you have my sincere condolences for the experience you're about to go through. They'll probably tell you to take the modem in (hopefully, locally) and get a replacement. I hope that works, because proving anything else of theirs is amiss is a much harder task. Much good luck.
